WLOS — ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A local robotics team is coming off a huge win, and now they have their sights set on San Antonio, Texas.
That’s where they’ll compete in the South Super Regional Competition, and if they take that title, they’re headed to the world championship.
Members of the Guzzoline Robotics Team created a robot they fondly call the Peacemaker. They built it from scratch, programmed it to perform certain tasks and took home first place in a statewide competition.
They are the first team from Western North Carolina to do so. They say teamwork is the key to winning.
“Problems, while they are problematic can be used as a tool to help you gain knowledge and confidence on how to work together and build off of it,” tenth grade student Brayden said.
The team is made up of mostly home-schooled students.
A-B Tech provides space at the college where the kids can work. They are looking for sponsors and donations to pay for the trip to Texas.
